Tiramisu

Try this decadent cake with hints of coffee, cocoa, and vanilla. You won't be disappointed.



Ingredients:
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups mascarpone cheese
  • 1 3/4 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups strong brewed espresso, cooled
  • 1/4 cup rum
  • 24-28 ladyfingers
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg yolks and sugar together until they become pale and creamy.

Step 2

Add the milk to the mixture and beat until well combined.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese until it is smooth and creamy.

Step 4

Add the mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture and beat until well combined.

Step 5

In another mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream until it forms stiff peaks.

Step 6

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.

Step 7

Mix the cooled espresso with the rum in a shallow dish.

Step 8

Dip the ladyfingers one by one into the espresso and rum mixture, and place them in a single layer in a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Step 9

Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the soaked ladyfingers.

Step 10

Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream mixture.

Step 11

Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight.

Step 12

Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder (and grated chocolate or additional cocoa powder, if desired).

Step 13

Cut into portions and serve chilled.
